Getting Time to Warm up the Hot Tub!
Everyday that passes and fall creeps closer and closer to reality I dream more and more often of the cool days when crawling into the hot tub with a nice glass of wine and washing away the days troubles will arrive. I was telling my girlfriend just yesterday that I absolutely must get my pool heat pump checked out, and very soon.
Do you have a hot tub, or are you planning on getting one? I cannot stress enough how relaxing and therapeutic they are. As Calgon used to say, "Take me away!"

Sexy Halloween Costumes
All I can say as we begin to get just the slightest, gentle breezes here in Texas after the most sweltering summer in 30 years, is Woo hoo! Fall is finally coming, and along with the autumn months comes my favorite holiday of all, Halloween.
Of all the Halloween costumes I have worn over the years, and there's been a lot, I would say the most fun I've had was in Sexy Halloween Costumes. Horse Riding Safety
Even though the Old West movies created a romantic view of horse riders galloping into the sunset without wearing horse riding helmets, the reality is that like any other sport which includes the danger of falling, riding a horse should require a helmet.
Falling off of or being thrown from a horse is no fun. I should know, my first encounter with riding a horse I was thrown. Luckily I didn't sustain serious injury but I very well could have. If you are taking your kids horseback riding over the Labor Day weekend, please make sure they are wearing helmets. We want them back in one piece for their great new school year!

As an American citizens it really does my heart good to see the movement toward buying products made in the USA. We worry about the economy, but being an armchair quarterback is not the way to solve the problem. If each person in our country were to take some sort of action, no matter how small, such as buying a shirt or pair of pants that are made in America, just imagine the boost it would give to our clothing manufacturers?

For instance, I was visiting a site called GreatAmericanGeneralStore.com and was amazed at the prices and the quality of the clothing they carry.

Tips for a Safe and Fun Labor Day Weekend
Gratefully summer is drawing to a close and Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, Monday Sept. 5th, (how glorious is feels to type the word "Sept.!") I thought it might be nice to offer up some helpful tips to make sure your Labor Day is a safe and fun one. So here we go:
TIPS FOR A SAFE AND FUN LABOR DAY WEEKEND
1. Observe all water safety rules: no drinking or drugs while commandeering a water vehicle, wearing a life jacket, never swimming alone, making sure children are always supervised, and taking a CPR class if you don't already know the technique. Make sure you wear a bathing suit that fits your body type. (Just threw that one in to see if you were paying attention! lol)
2. For hikers, campers and bikers, be sure to wear and carry plenty of sunscreen. Bike riders should always wear a helmet. Campers, never leave a campfire unattended, and always make absolutely sure the fire is out when you leave the campsite. Be sure you have plenty of aa rechargeable batteries.
3. Road trip on your agenda? Be sure you have a fully stocked first aid kit in your car. Check your vehicle for maintenance and safety ahead of time. No drugs or alcohol. Wear your seat belt. Carry plenty of water. Be a courteous driver.
Those are the main rules. If you think of others I missed by all means leave a comment for our readers.

The Tradition of Back-to-School
Although I don't have school age children it occurred to me today that, like mothers today my kids and I had a tradition when it came to back-to-school preparations. About a week before school started we made our yearly trek on the search for nice school clothes and shoes that were on sale. (I was a single mom and money was not abundant.)
Once we had purchased the school clothes, it was time for a big, fat lunch. I splurged on this lunch yearly, it was our way of saying, "Yeah! We deserve this!" You have to do that every once in a while, with your kids or even by yourself or with friends, for it boost morale for everyone and it's dang good fun too.
Getting ready to go back to school doesn't have to be stressful if you plan far enough ahead. One idea if you have more than one or two kids is to take them shopping for school clothes and school supplies in shifts. For instance, take the oldest and the youngest together on one trip. That way the older child can help with the youngest. Or you could even let their dad take a few of them shopping instead of you. There are ways to make back to school fun, and once the classroom bell rings you can relax with a big refreshing drink and celebrate back to school yourself!

When I began listening to former Christian artist Mat Kearney's new album, YOUNG LOVE, I was instantly smiling and moving to the synthesized pop sound. Join the Zumba Craze!

I Love Celtic Jewelry!
I don't really know what it is about celtic jewelry, but ever since I was a young girl I have been partial to it. Once I researched my family roots and learned that my ancestors were Scottish, it helped to explain my fascination with celtic jewelry better. There's a mystic about Celtic jewelry, as if you are wearing an actual piece of marvelous history.
I have been looking at some really nice celtic jewelry, thinking I could buy my girlfriend, who also loves this type of jewelry, (she's in love with Michael Flatley and adores River Dance!)and has a birthday coming up. Luxury Homes made of Steel
I love it that more and more often, people are building their homes out of common and found material to help conserve energy and save our planet. For instance, check out these beautiful steel buildings which are also luxury homes.
Architects and builders are working smarter by using alternative products for luxury homes. Some of the advantages of building with steel are:

2. Steel allows flexibility in application.

First Time to Watch the Weirdness that is Toddlers and Tiaras
I was channel surfing last night and came across the show TODDLERS AND TIARAS, and though, after the Jon Benet Ramsey murder, I hate the fact that little girls are subjected to this kind of abuse, which is to me what it really is, my eyes became glued to the screen.
I was fascinated! Most of the kids on Toddlers and Tiaras really did seem to love the whole pageant thing, although it appeared to me that most of the Toddler and Tiara girls seemed not to care for the makeup part at all, nor the rituals of getting ready for the competition, but rather the attention they got from the audience, the other kids, but especially the approval of their parents. I cringe at the message this is sending these kids, and what they will be like when they grow up. Talk about issues! I think this whole industry is bad business, but alas, it is a free country.
Still, I am going to have to watch Wednesday night, because the bell of the ball, Eden Wood, has a melt down and is said to be retiring at 6 years old.
I then began to watch MY STRANGE ADDICTION, but had to pull the plug on the lady eating her husband's ashes! Ugh.

Man Toys
I have been dating a guy off and on for a year and a half, and one thing I can't get over his the number of toys this guy has. Two four-wheelers, a bass boat, a pontoon boat, a jeep, a jet ski, and numerous other man toys, such as an inside toy racetrack. Well, it's actually more than a toy, for I am not sure a kid could even play with it.
He is one of those men who has everything, probably because he's never been married. This makes it very hard to find a unique gift for him. I was thinking, for Christmas, I might buy him some parts he needs to expand his racetrack. I found a site that sells surface raceways and this is something I know for sure he would want.

Do You Exfoliate?
One thing I love about our modern times is that things once reserved for the rich and famous are now easily accessible to the average person. Take exfoliating, for instance. A decade ago I don't think I'd ever even heard the word exfoliate, but now it's something I do daily, especially to the bottom of my feet.
For those of you who don't really know how to exfoliate properly, and have rough, dry feet like mine have become as I've gotten older--probably caused by years of tomboy behavior and going barefoot--exfoliating is really easy and highly effective in returning those leather feet to soft, supple skin again, if done properly.
I did some research on how to exfoliate, to assure my readers that the information I offered was totally accurate. Below are guidelines for exfoliating properly, and of course exfoliating is hardly just for feet. The information below are instructions for a whole body exfoliation, though the same guidelines apply for any one part of your body:

- Buy a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a body exfoliating brush.
- Once in the shower or bath, wet your entire body. Apply exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or other exfoliating tool.
- Scrub your body, using gentle circular motions.
- Choose exfoliating cleansers containing oatmeal, raw sugar, ground almonds or sea salt. The grainy texture exfoliates the skin.
- Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.
- Be sure to use body moisturizers at least once every day. This will prevent skin from drying out due to exfoliation.
Exfoliating is invigorating, refreshing, and really works to soften skin, used along with a good lotion afterwards. If you didn't know how to exfoliate before, well now you have no excuse for missing out on softening those rough patches and those leather feet!
